A school resource officer is off the job in a suburban St. Louis district after his revolver discharged while he was cleaning it.
Officials say no one was injured when gun went off around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Hazelwood East High School.
The Hazelwood school district says the officer will not be returning to the school. St. Louis County police say the five-year veteran of the force remains on duty because no one was hurt.
St. Louis County police spokesman Rick Eckhard says the department is looking at why the officer was cleaning his weapon in the school.
