In the aftermath of Alabama's tornadoes, pastors and worshippers of different denominations are reaching out to each other to offer prayers, places to worship and supplies as they try to rebuild.
Church leaders say the disaster has a chance to bring at least somewhat closer congregations that generally had few connections.
Daven Watkins, senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove, recently called his counterpart at First Assembly of God across the street. Watkins' church is damaged but still standing, while the other one was destroyed.
He invited the other church's parishioners to attend services or a space to worship by themselves.
Other churches are doing the same, along with larger drives to benefit congregations of any kind that need help.
