A commercial aircraft from Miami to San Francisco made an emergency landing in Las Vegas after the pilot reported faint smoke in the cockpit.
American Airlines flight 431 landed safely at McCarran International Airport just before 11:10 a.m. Pacific time Friday and taxied to a gate.
Officials say the 159 passengers and six crew members walked off the plane without incident.
An airline spokesman says pilots are instructed to land right away upon smelling smoke, so it was a "straightforward procedure."
Airport fire crews met the Boeing 757 when it landed, but the source of the odor aboard the aircraft wasn't immediately determined.
The FAA is investigating.
Mechanics in Las Vegas were checking the aircraft and the airline was working to book passengers on other flights.
