San Diego police say there will be no criminal charges against a taxi driver who plowed into a crowd outside a downtown nightclub, seriously injuring a woman who was pinned against a wall.
The police department says there is insufficient evidence to charge 52-year-old Sam Hassan Daly.
He injured 35 people when he drove his taxi into a crowd outside the Stingaree on Feb. 12. A 45-year-old patron whose right leg was pinned against a wall has had several reconstructive surgeries.
Police have not determined what caused the crash, but Lt. Rick O'Hanlon says it is likely that the driver fell asleep. Investigators are treating it as an accident.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department has suspended Hasan's taxi license.
