Medical examiners have ruled that a North Carolina teen whose body was found in a river around Baltimore is a homicide.
Sixteen-year-old Phylicia Barnes of Monroe, N.C., went missing on Dec. 28 while visiting family in Baltimore. Last month, workers at the Conowingo Dam spotted Barnes' body in the Susquehanna River dozens of miles from Baltimore.
Baltimore and Maryland State Police say they will not release what killed her because they don't want to damage the investigation.
No one has been charged in Barnes' death.
The medical examiner has released the teen's body to her family, who have planned her funeral Saturday in Conyers, Ga.
