Suspect in Texas woman's death arrested in Arizona

Authorities say the suspect in the death of a North Texas fitness instructor has been arrested in Arizona after he jumped over an edge at Grand Canyon National Park and had to be rescued.

Plano police spokesman Rick McDonald says 48-year-old Terrance Deering Black, a former boyfriend of 40-year-old Susan Loper, was arrested Friday evening.

Park officials in Arizona say Black, of the Dallas suburb of Frisco, was taken to a hospital after falling about 25 feet and then being rescued. McDonald says authorities are working to get Black transferred back to Texas.

Plano police had issued a capital murder arrest warrant for Black earlier Friday.

Loper was reported missing Tuesday from the Plano country club where she worked. Her body was found Wednesday in Frisco, where she also lived.
