Wilmington police say someone in an angry crowd fired shots at a car that had struck two boys on motorized scooters, but the vehicle got away despite attempts to pull out the driver and a passenger.
Authorities say the two youths on scooters emerged from in front of a parked car when they were hit Monday afternoon on a Wilmington street. Police say six shots were fired into the car's trunk but no one was hit by bullets and the driver left the scene and called police.
The boys were listed in good condition at a local hospital. Authorities didn't identify the boys or give details of their injuries. The two people in the car also weren't identified and police say an investigation into the incident is continuing.
