The White House says President Barack Obama and Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli will meet for the first time later this month.
Among the issues they are expected to discuss is a pending free-trade agreement between their countries. The pact is the last of three free-trade deals that congressional Republicans have been pressing Obama to finalize and send to Capitol Hill for approval.
The two other trade agreements are with South Korea and Colombia.
Obama is scheduled to welcome Martinelli to the White House on April 28.
