Prosecutors say a 16-year-old boy was charged Friday with murder in connection with the fatal shootings of two other teens at a party in the troubled Philadelphia suburb of Chester last week.
Delaware County prosecutors say Kanei Avery was arraigned as an adult on first- and third-degree murder charges in the April 8 shooting at Minaret Temple No. 174. Eight other teens were wounded.
A hundred or more teens attended the party before shooting broke out shortly before 11:30 p.m., killing 18-year-old Robel Laboy and 19-year-old David Johnson.
Authorities said Avery was holding a silver handgun at the base of the temple's steps when he was tackled by a security guard. Police arrested him moments later.
The Delaware County Daily Times reports Avery was being held on assault and related offenses in connection with the shooting. It could not be determined if he had obtained an attorney.
