Palin set to attend Wisconsin tea party rally

Sarah Palin is set to attend a tea party rally this weekend at the Wisconsin Capitol, the site of recent protests over legislation that would strip union rights for most public workers.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate is set to speak at the tea party's annual tax day rally, which begins at noon Saturday in Madison.

The Wisconsin Democratic Party is still stinging over Gov. Scott Walker's divisive collective bargaining law. It says in a statement that Palin and Walker complement each perfectly because each of them wants to lower wages and benefits for Wisconsin families.

A Walker spokesman didn't immediately return messages. Palin's attorney had no immediate comment on the Democrats' statement.

Liberal groups already were making plans Thursday afternoon for a counter-rally.
