Authorities in northwestern South Carolina say a teenager was killed in a wreck on a stretch of highway named in memory of his father, a soldier who was killed in Afghanistan.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says 18-year-old Aaron Shawn Hill was killed Thursday morning on Highway 129 in Wellford.
The stretch of road where Hill died is named for his father, U.S. Army National Guard Sgt. Shawn Hill, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2008 when his vehicle hit a roadside bomb.
The Byrnes High School senior was pronounced dead at the scene Thursday. Two other people injured in the wreck were brought to area hospitals.
The Highway Patrol says Hill was driving a Honda that was hit head-on when a Chevrolet pickup crossed the center line.
