A Portuguese model is due in a New York City court as he fights charges of castrating and killing a Portuguese TV journalist in a New York hotel room.
Renato Seabra (rehn-AH-toh say-AH'-brah) has a court date Friday.
His lawyer didn't return a call Thursday. He has said Seabra is considering a psychiatric defense. He also has filed papers seeking to keep prosecutors from using the statements police say Seabra made to them about the Jan. 7 slaying of Carlos Castro.
The 65-year-old Castro was killed in a hotel room the men were sharing. Police say the 21-year-old Seabra told them he choked, stabbed and stomped Castro after an argument.
Friends said the two were a couple, but Seabra's mother has said they weren't.
