Yale University has created a committee to address allegations of sexual harassment and other misconduct. The announcement comes as federal officials investigate a complaint by students that the Ivy League university failed to adequately respond to such concerns.
Yale officials say the committee will begin July 1 and will make it simpler for students and faculty to pursue complaints.
The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights confirmed last week that it is investigating a complaint by students alleging Yale has a sexually hostile environment and failed to respond promptly or effectively to harassment.
Yale said it will cooperate with the investigation and does not tolerate sexual harassment or other misconduct.
Yale officials said the process that led to the committee began a couple of years ago.
