Barbour all shook up with gaudy Elvis sunglasses

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour briefly channeled his inner Elvis after a Democratic lawmaker trotted after him and popped a pair of gold-rimmed Elvis Presley sunglasses onto the Republican's face.

The surprise gesture Wednesday by Rep. Steve Holland was all in good humor as part of a Tupelo tourism promotion at the Mississippi Capitol.

The northeast Mississippi city is birthplace of the king of rock 'n' roll.

Jack Curtis, a Tupelo insurance agent, wore in a white fringed polyester jumpsuit and crooned "Suspicious Minds" and other Elvis tunes as spectators munched on the late singer's favorite, fried peanut butter-and-banana sandwiches.

Barbour, a potential 2012 presidential candidate, wore the prop sunglasses briefly. When he got onto a Capitol elevator with reporters, he handed them to an assistant.
