A sister's long search for her brother is finally over.
A central Pennsylvania coroner exhumed the body of John Leonard Adams on Monday, 18 years after he was last seen by his family.
Adams' sister, Liz, tells the Seattle Times he had left home in Washington state as he struggled with schizophrenia.
Liz Adams began searching again in 2004. Her brother was eventually identified through fingerprints as an unknown man who'd died after being struck by a train in Pennsylvania in 2001.
WHTM-TV reports Adams' remains were exhumed from a potter's field in Harrisburg. He was the last person buried at the cemetery before the county coroner began cremating unidentified bodies.
Liz Adams says she plans to take her brother's body back to the Seattle area for burial.
