A firefighter union says it has no plans to pull a television ad that an Oklahoma state senator described as "horrific and tasteless" for including images of the Oklahoma City bombing aftermath.
Professional Fire Fighters of Oklahoma President Rick Beams says Friday the ad began airing this week to bring attention to a bill that changes how contract disputes are handled between cities and uniformed personnel like police and firefighters.
Beams says the ad features images of work done by firefighters, including emergencies.
Republican State Sen. David Holt, who wrote the bill and is former chief of staff for the Oklahoma City mayor, says the ad is "completely over the top" and the union "should be ashamed." He says the salaries of public safety personnel are costing taxpayers too much.
