A suburban New York City man who killed his 9-year-old daughter and her baby sitter after arguing with the girl's mother has been sentenced to 40 years to life in prison.
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced the sentence Tuesday for Darrell Evans of Mount Vernon. Evans had pleaded guilty to two counts of murder in exchange for the sentence.
Ayana Evans and her baby sitter, Lorna Williams, were shot on Jan. 7, 2010.
Authorities say Evans was arguing with Ayana's mother over the phone and told her what he was about to do.
She called police, who found the victims inside the home. Mount Vernon is a suburb of New York City.
