Wounded Virginia deputy released from hospital

A southwest Virginia sheriff's deputy has been released from a hospital nearly a week after he was wounded in a shooting that killed two other deputies.

Buchanan County Deputy Eric Rasnake was reportedly released Saturday from Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn.

Rasnake was among four deputies shot on March 13 in rural Vansant. Two of the deputies died and the suspected gunman, Randy Newberry, was later killed in a confrontation with authorities.

Buchanan County Sheriff Ray Foster says another wounded deputy, Shane Charles, is expected to be transferred soon to a rehabilitation facility in Georgia.
