US nuclear chief sees no radiation risk to US

The chief of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission says that the radiation being emitted from Japan's most troubled nuclear power plant poses no threat to the United States or U.S. territories.

NRC Chairman Gregory Jaczko gave the assurances during a briefing Thursday at the White House, saying that basic science says there can't be any risk.

Jazcko and Dan Poneman, a deputy secretary of energy, also said that it appears that the U.S. advice for Americans within 50 miles of the Fukushima Dai-chi plant to evacuate was prudent.
