The White House says President Barack Obama will deliver a commencement address at Miami Dade College's North Campus next month. The setting will allow him to appear in politically important Florida while showcasing a school that emphasizes continuing education and career training, areas he's highlighted as part of his education agenda.
Obama typically delivers several college and university commencement speeches each year, normally including one at a military academy. The Miami speech, set for April 29, is the first invitation the White House has announced for this year.
Separately, the White House is encouraging high schools to compete to get Obama as their graduation speaker.
