An explosion at Fort Bragg has injured 10 military personnel during an artillery exercise on the Army post in North Carolina.
The explosion Monday night injured eight Marines and two Navy personnel from the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, also in North Carolina.
Division Staff Sgt. Jayson Price said Tuesday the cause of the explosion was under investigation but that it happened during an artillery live-fire exercise.
Fort Bragg officials say most of the injuries were shrapnel wounds and cuts. Two of the injured were flown by helicopter to hospitals at Chapel Hill while the other eight were sent to a medical center at the fort.
Price would not release the names of those injured and did not have other details about the extent of the injuries.
