President Barack Obama has congratulated new Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny on his rise to power and says he looks forward to seeing him at the White House on St. Patrick's Day.
Kenny, who assumed office this week, will meet with Obama in the Oval Office on Wednesday. Kenny has said he will also meet with congressional leaders and possible business investors for his financially reeling country during his two-day trip.
Obama called Kenny Friday morning and assured him of the United States strong support for Ireland. The White House said both leaders would discuss events in Libya as well as other issues during their meeting.
