Emergency landing at Sky Harbor after blown tire

Authorities say a US Airways plane carrying 82 people has made an emergency landing at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport because of a blown tire.

US Airways spokesman Andrew Christie Jr., tells The Associated Press the plane landed safely around 7 p.m. Wednesday and no injuries were reported.

Christie says US Airways Express Flight 2829, operated by Mesa Airlines, was flying from Long Beach, Calif. to Phoenix when the crew reported a blown tire.

Officials did not provide any information on when the tire blew.

Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Tony Mure told KNXV-TV in Phoenix there was some smoke when the craft landed.

The station reports several fire trucks escorted the plane to a gate at the airport
