The Navy has released the names of two sailors killed after a 7-ton water truck rolled over during a Navy-Marine Corps joint exercise at Camp Pendleton in Southern California.
Officials with the 3rd Fleet said Wednesday that Petty Officer 3rd Class Daniel M. Shirar and Constructionman Mychael A. Flint died in Monday's accident.
The truck was carrying drinking water to resupply a campsite, and the sailors were riding in the truck when it rolled.
The 27-year-old Shirar was a reservist from Baytown, Texas.
The 21-year-old Flint joined the Navy in 2009, a year after graduating from high school in upstate New York.
Both were assigned to the Navy's Amphibious Construction Battalion 1.
A third sailor was hospitalized in stable condition following the accident. That sailor's name has not been released.
