Illness prompts Kissinger to cancel Okla. speech

Oklahoma University President David Boren says Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has canceled an appearance at the school after feeling ill.

Kissinger had been scheduled to deliver a Wednesday evening speech at the Oklahoma University campus in Norman.

Boren says in a statement that the appearance was cancelled after Kissinger began feeling ill Wednesday morning and a doctor advised the 87-year-old to stay in New York to undergo routine, precautionary tests.

Kissinger was secretary of state from 1973 to 1977 under presidents Richard M. Nixon and Gerald Ford.
