The following recalls have been announced:


DETAILS: Ground beef products from Creekstone Farms Premium Beef of Arkansas City, Kan., produced on Feb. 22, 2011, and distributed to companies in Arizona, California, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington for further processing and distribution. The products may have been repackaged into consumer-sized packages and sold under different retail brands.

WHY: The products may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration and, in the most severe cases, kidney failure. The very young, seniors and those with weak immune systems are the most susceptible to foodborne illness.

INCIDENTS: None reported.

HOW MANY: An estimated 14,158 pounds.

DETAILS: Pig ear dog chews manufactured by Jones Natural Chews Co. of Rockford, Ill., and shipped to distributors and retailers in Connecticut, Iowa, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

WHY: The chews may be contaminated with salmonella, which can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever in people, and cause pets to feel lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting.

INCIDENTS: None reported.

HOW MANY: 2,705 boxes.

DETAILS: Freestanding Steel Outdoor Fireplaces manufactured by Sunjoy Industries Group Limited of Steubenville, Ohio, and sold at Lowe's retail stores nationwide from March 2010 through November 2010.

WHY: The decorative bronze powder coat finish on the fireplace chimney can ignite, posing a fire hazard.

INCIDENTS: Sunjoy has received 14 reports of the chimney's decorative finish catching fire, resulting in melted siding in one case. No injuries have been reported.

DETAILS: Low-profile power conditioners/surge protectors imported by Milestone AV Technologies LLC of Savage, Minn., and sold by independent home theater dealers from June 2009 through December 2010.

WHY: Improper grounding of the case and inadequate insulation of the circuit breaker poses an electrical shock hazard.

INCIDENTS: None reported.
