UVa women's lacrosse team retires Love's No. 1

The University of Virginia's women's lacrosse team has retired the number worn by slain player Yeardley Love.

The No. 1 worn by Love was retired Sunday before the Cavaliers' home game against Penn State in Charlottesville. Virginia won the game 10-5.

In addition, five seniors from last year's team returned to raise a flag that will fly in Love's honor at all U.Va. women's lacrosse home games.

Love was found dead last May in her apartment after suffering blunt-force trauma to the head. Former U.Va. men's lacrosse player George Huguely is charged in her death. Huguely told police at the time that they'd been involved in a relationship that had recently ended.
