Obama to meet with Australian leader

President Barack Obama is welcoming Prime Minister Julia Gillard of Australia to the White House on Monday.

Obama and Gillard will discuss the strong ties between the United States and Australia and shared political and economic interests in the Asia-Pacific region. They also will discuss the two nations' cooperative efforts around the world, including in Afghanistan, and their membership in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation group and the G-20, an organization of the world's rich and developing countries.

The two leaders will hold bilateral meetings in the Oval Office, then deliver public statements.
