New Hampshire's Dartmouth College is changing its fundraising tactics after a student was harassed for being the lone holdout in a campaign to raise money for future scholarships.
In May, the Class of 1960 agreed to donate an extra $100,000 if each member of the class of 2010 donated at least $1. When a single senior declined to participate, her name and picture was posted on a blog criticizing her decision.
Sylvia Racca, the administrator in charge of the fundraiser, says the school regrets the inappropriate behavior. She says future campaigns will not include goals of 100 percent participation.
The Class of 1960 did make its donation. Dartmouth costs about $50,000 a year for tuition, room and board.
