A Southwest Airlines flight to Jacksonville was delayed in Alabama after a flight attendant spotted white powder leaking from a box in an overhead bin. Officials say the substance turned out to be a harmless foot powder.
Passengers aboard Flight 602 departing from Birmingham, Ala., were taken off the plane Sunday evening. A hazardous materials team went on board to investigate.
Testing determined the substance wasn't dangerous, and the 77 passengers were allowed back on the plane and departed safely to Florida.
A Southwest spokesman says a passenger thought the substance was foot powder he had packed. Authorities confirmed that was the case.
