Drowned Mich. toddlers buried in separate services

Two toddlers allegedly drowned by their father have been buried, four days after their bodies were found in a Detroit-area apartment.

Relatives of 15-month-old Ella Stafford sobbed Saturday as four pallbearers unloaded her tiny pink casket from a hearse for funeral services at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Brownstown.

The Detroit Free Press reports that the girl's 13-month-old half-brother, Jonathon Sanderlin, was also buried Saturday in a separate service in Cadillac.

Their 27-year-old father is charged with first-degree felony murder and child abuse. Steven Nicholson has denied harming his children, who had different mothers.

Prosecutors say Nicholson drowned the toddlers and that they were also scalded on various parts of their bodies.
