A lawyer for a man suspected in a string of stabbings across three states says he's anticipating more homicide charges in Michigan, where five men were killed.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said he's announcing more charges Thursday against Elias Abuelazam. Defense attorney Brian Morley says he is expecting more homicide charges.
Abuelazam has been charged with one count of murder and five counts of attempted murder in the Flint area, 70 miles north of Detroit. He's pleaded not guilty. He also is charged with attempted murder in Toledo, Ohio, and is a suspect in similar crimes in Leesburg, Va.
Authorities have said a common thread in some stabbings was that the victims were asked for help or directions before being attacked.
