Two men have been sentenced to five years probation each after pleading no contest to causing a 2007 Malibu wildfire that destroyed 53 homes and damaged 23 others.
Eric Ullman and Dean Lavorante were sentenced Wednesday after entering no contest pleas to recklessly causing a fire with great bodily injury and recklessly causing a fire of an inhabited structure.
They also were ordered to perform 500 hours of fire-related community service and pay $1,000 in restitution.
Los Angeles County prosecutors say Ullman and Lavorante were among five men who were partying in a Malibu-area cave and left an illegal bonfire whose embers ignited the fire.
The other three men pleaded no contest to the same charges earlier this year and were sentenced to probation with community service.
