Police in Indiana say officers who stopped a speeding driver got a grisly surprise when they found the body of a man who had been fatally hit in the back of the pickup truck.
Prosecutors filed several charges Monday against 26-year-old William Albrecht Jr. of Hobart, including felony driving while intoxicated, causing death.
The Post-Tribune reports an officer found the body of 52-year-old Paul Williams of Lake Station in the truck's bed when he stopped Albrecht late Saturday. The Times of Munster reports that authorities believe Albrecht drove for nearly a mile after hitting Williams but was unaware the body was in the truck.
No telephone number was listed for Albrecht. Lake County officials didn't immediately respond about whether he had an attorney.
