Bus rider gets prison for killing driver over fare

A man convicted of fatally stabbing a New York City bus driver because he refused to give him a free transfer will spend 20 years to life in prison.

The Brooklyn prosecutor's office says 22-year-old Horace Moore was sentenced Tuesday. He was convicted of second-degree murder in the December 2008 stabbing of bus driver Edwin Thomas.

Prosecutors say Thomas allowed Moore to ride for free when Moore boarded in Brooklyn and said he had no money. But Moore became enraged when the driver refused to give him the free transfer ticket.

Investigators say the two argued before Moore stabbed Thomas in front of passengers.
