NY man pleads guilty in NJ perfume warehouse heist

A New York man has admitted his role in a plot to rob a northern New Jersey perfume warehouse.

Thirty-year-old Anselmo Jimenes of Brooklyn pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Newark to robbery conspiracy and transporting stolen goods.

He is the ninth defendant to plead guilty in the case.

Prosecutors say Jimenes hired 16 day laborers to load boxes of perfume stolen from the In-Style warehouse in Carlstadt on Feb. 9 onto rented box trucks. The haul was valued at $600,000.

Jimenes faces a maximum sentence of 20 years on the robbery conspiracy charge and 10 on the transportation of stolen goods charge. The actual penalty is likely to be less under federal sentencing guidelines.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 24.
