A former employee of a Baton Rouge construction company was arrested Wednesday in the shooting deaths of two people and the wounding of a third at the company's offices, authorities said.
The suspect is a former employee of Grady Crawford Construction Co. and the victims were all company employees, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.
A company foreman tackled and disarmed the suspect before sheriff's deputies arrived, Hicks said.
Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third was taken to a hospital with injuries that were considered life-threatening, Hicks said. She wouldn't identify the suspect and said the victims' identities were being withheld pending notification of relatives.
"It's still a very fluid situation," Hicks said.
Michael Crawford, wife of company co-owner Grady Crawford, said she didn't know the identities of the alleged gunman or victims and was waiting to learn more about the incident from her husband.
"I just know it was a tragic incident," she said.
