An Indiana man who refused to request clemency has been executed for the 1994 killings of his estranged wife and two relatives.
A state Department of Correction spokesman says 49-year-old Matthew Eric Wrinkles died from a lethal injection at 12:39 a.m. Friday.
Authorities say Wrinkles was on methamphetamine when he broke into his brother-in-law's Evansville home. He shot his wife, Debra Jean Wrinkles, along with her brother, Mark Fulkerson, and his wife, Natalie.
In a written last statement, Wrinkles says he's not proud of the man he was, but is no longer that man.
His daughter says she made peace with her father. His mother-in-law says Wrinkles only recently began showing remorse.
Wrinkles was the first person executed in Indiana since June 2007.
