The third man to be convicted in the brutal carjacking and torture murders of a young Tennessee couple has been sentenced to life without parole.
A jury in Knoxville deliberated about two hours Thursday before handing down the sentence for George Thomas of Kentucky.
The victims were 21-year-old University of Tennessee student Channon Christian and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Christopher Newsom.
Newsom's naked, bound and burned body was found near railroad tracks and Christian had been stuffed into a trash can and left to suffocate.
Thomas claims he visited the house where the couple was held but he did not participate in their deaths.
The convicted ringleader of the crimes, Lemaricus Davidson, has been sentenced to death.
