Texas A&M University has named former U.S. ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker as dean of its Bush School of Government and Public Service.
His appointment Friday by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents, will become effective Jan. 25.
Crocker served nearly four decades as a career diplomat. He retired from the U.S. Foreign Service after his tenure as ambassador to Iraq from 2007 to spring 2009.
He says he is looking forward to working with former President George H.W. Bush, the school's namesake. Bush's presidential library is on the A&M campus, located about 100 miles northwest of Houston.
