A Southern California man has been sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping a woman whom he imprisoned in a casket-like box in his van while demanding a $140,000 ransom from her husband.
Riverside County Deputy District Attorney Amy Barajas said Thursday that Mark Warren of Victorvillle will have no possibility of parole for the March 2007 abduction.
Dressed as a letter carrier, the 50-year-old Warren overpowered the victim when she opened her door to sign for a letter. After subduing her with a stun gun, he tied her up and put a hood over her head before placing her in a makeshift casket in his van.
A neighbor called authorities when she spotted the suspicious vehicle outside her home.
