State highway officials say four people have died in northern Washington state after their car was struck by another vehicle that ran a stop sign.
Trooper Keith Leary says all four victims were in a car traveling south on State Route 9 near Marysville.
Leary says the driver of the vehicle that ran the stop sign fled the scene, but was persuaded by a nearby resident to return. Officials say that driver, who received minor injuries, was arrested for investigation of driving while intoxicated.
Names and hometowns of the victims and the surviving driver were not immediately released.
