NEW YORK (AP) — Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is adding features to its mobile app for its pharmacy and money service customers designed to reduce their time in line.
Starting in March, Wal-Mart will let pharmacy customers refill prescriptions, track order status and view pricing through the app. They can then use express lanes to pick up the orders and pay electronically.
Customers who want to transfer money will be able to enter information securely in the app and then head to the store to use the "express" lane. There, they'll tap "money ready to send" and scan the code. Previously, money transfer customers had to fill out paperwork and then waited in line.
Wal-Mart says store services express lanes will be available at almost all of its 4,700 U.S. stores by this fall.
