Summary Box: Apple unveils 'new iPad'

NEW IPAD: Apple Inc. unveiled a new, faster iPad with a high-definition screen that's sharper than the average high-definition television set. It will go on sale March 16 in the U.S., Canada and 10 other countries.

OLD NAME: Apple is calling the new iPad the iPad. This could confuse buyers since the older model, the iPad 2, will still be sold. The lack of a new name is consistent with Apple's practices for the iPod. New models have been simply called "iPod."

WHAT IT'LL COST YOU: Prices aren't changing from previous models and will start at $499. Versions that can access cellular networks will cost $629 to $829. The older, basic iPad 2 will now cost $399.
