Texas AG sues 3 online home schools

The Texas Attorney General's Office is suing two North Texas men who operate three online "home schools" the state alleges are diploma mills.

A state district judge in El Paso granted a temporary restraining order Thursday to close the Advent Harvest Academy schools run by Teri Tout-Dennis and Mike Martin of Tarrant County.

The AG's suit accuses the men of unlawfully marketing fake high school diplomas to people who paid $225 to enroll in their unacredited program and take a test.

Martin says his schools have operated since 2005 and "conform to all laws of the state of Texas."

The Internet-based high schools are Sunrise Private, Longhorn Private and Bluebonnet Private.

A temporary injunction hearing will be held Nov. 4.
