In the aftermath of the fatal collision between an American Airlines flight and an Army Helicopter Wednesday night in Washington, DC the figure skating world is experiencing unique grief. Two teenage figure skaters, their mothers, and two former world champions, who were coaching at a historic Skating Club of Boston, were among the 14 members of the skating community killed on the inbound flight from Witchita, returning from a development camp. Former American Olympians and medalists, Dr. Tenley Albright and Nancy Kerrigan were among those gathered for a Thursday press conference. Separately, figure skating legend and broadcaster, Dick Button, has passed away.

View More »Trump: new tariffs could cause Americans “some pain”
President Trump says his newly announced tariffs could cause “some pain” for Americans. With tariffs against Canada, Mexico, and China taking effect this week, the emerging trade war could lead to higher prices. The president admitted that Americans could feel “some pain” in the short term, but claimed “it will all be worth the price that must be paid.” He repeatedly bashed Joe Biden for high inflation and, now, the Trump tariffs threaten to raise the price of cars, gasoline, clothes, toys, and avocados.

View More »Trump Signs Order Imposing Tariffs On China, Mexico, and Canada
President Donald Trump has signed an order to impose stiff tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China. President Trump is declaring an economic emergency to put duties of 10% on all imports from China and 25% on imports from Mexico and Canada — America’s largest trading partners — except for a 10% rate on Canadian oil. The move fulfills Mr. Trump’s campaign promise but also raises the prospect of increased prices for American consumers. The White House says the order also includes a mechanism to escalate the rates if the countries retaliate as they have threatened.

Hamas has freed three hostages as part of the ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip. Bernie Bennett has this report.
VERBATIM: Two released hostages, Ofer Kalderon and Yarden Bibas, arrived in Israel and were on their way to an initial reception point. Along the road leading to the military base, small groups of supporters waited for the convoys waving Israeli flags.
Later Saturday, American-Israeli Keith Siegel was handed over to the Red Cross.
The six-week phase one truce calls for the release of 33 hostages and nearly 2,000 prisoners, as well as the return of Palestinians to northern Gaza and an increase in humanitarian aid to the devastated territory.

Another pro-life action by the Trump administration
VERBATIM: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has gotten the military out of the abortion business. He has overturned the Biden era policy that funded travel for female service members to leave pro-life states and head to states where abortions are legal for the purpose of getting one. President Trump has been busy since taking office in withdrawing federal support for abortion at many levels. He has restored the Hyde Amendment and the Mexico City Policy. MH SRN NEWS.
