STERLING, Va. (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday an agreement on the status of some 700,000 so-called Dreamers brought to the United States illegally as children “could very well not happen” by March 5, when the program protecting them from deportation expires.

Speaking to Customs and Border Protection officials, Trump said he did not believe Democrats wanted to reach an agreement on the issue.

Trump has said he is willing to reach a deal to protect the Dreamers, but he wants to combine it with funding for a wall along the border with Mexico and other measures opposed by Democrats.
