WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that his administration would likely make an announcement next week on the opioid crisis, which a White House commission suggested should be declared a national emergency.
"We're going to have a major announcement, probably next week, on the drug crisis and on the opioid massive problem. And I want to get that absolutely right because this country, and frankly the world, has a drug problem," Trump told journalists. Trump said in August that he would declare opioid abuse a national emergency, but has not yet done so.
