BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A sheriff's deputy shot and wounded a Florida woman who had barricaded herself in her home.
Hernando County Sheriff's officials said in a news release the shooting happened Sunday afternoon in Brooksville. They say the woman was reported to be suicidal and was armed with a shotgun and had access to other weapons inside the home.
The woman walked out of the home and lifted and pointed the gun at several deputies. The deputies fired, hitting her. She was taken to a hospital where sheriff's officials say she's being treated for injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
