County settles lawsuit for police sexual harassment for $20K

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina county has settled a lawsuit with a woman who says she was sexually harassed by a former police detective by agreeing to pay her $20,000.

The Sun News reports (http://bit.ly/2pow9lq ) that under the April 13 agreement, the woman identified as Jane Doe 5 will drop the charges filed in January involving former Horry County Police Detective Allen Large.

The newspaper obtained the agreement under the Freedom of Information Act.

Four other women have filed lawsuits against the county and police department saying Large sexually assaulted or harassed them.

In September 2016, Large and three former officers were indicted on charges relating to coercing women into sex or ignoring nearly 100 cases they were supposed to be investigating.
